Product Care

Here at Wick Inc, we pride ourselves on the quality of our products and the experience they offer our customers, therefore please read some of our tips below to get the best out of your Wick Inc product.

We know you will be excited to light that wick as soon as possible and enjoy your new purchase but we urge you to follow the below steps to get the best out of our product and bring that bit of luxury to your happy place!

1. Wicks – same same but different!

Wooden wicks and cotton wicks are different and should be treated differently. Wooden wicks…angle the candle at 45 degrees and light one side of the wick allowing the initial flame to travel across the width of the wick. Simples

2. Burn baby burn - the first and most important burn!

You need to let your candle burn continuously until an adequate wax pool has formed which will stop any tunnels forming around the wick on later burns (this can be upwards of 2 hours).

But tunnelling can happen...if it does there is a way to fix it…we’ve got your back!

3. Trim those wicks!

Keep your wooden wick trimmed short and free of charred bits. Nail clippers work well if you don’t have any wick trimmers but be careful not to cut it too short!

4. Last resorts…

Firstly, if you can get a long burn out of your wick, do so – treat it as if it was the first burn and give the candle time to burn and for a lot of wax to melt.

Secondly, sometimes this isn’t an option because the tunnel is too well established – use a paper towel (watch your fingers!) and absorb the melted wax around the wick, giving it more space to breathe!

Finally, you can scrape out the wax that is not being melted, effectively flattening out the surface and resetting the candle’s landscape.
